Welfare Cuts – What It Means for Disabled People

From Inclusion Scotland:

Inclusion Scotland’s Participation and Policy Team have been analysing the UK Government’s Green Paper on ‘Pathways to Work’ and the Spring Statement. These announced cuts will slash at least £5 billion from welfare, targeting benefits that disabled people rely on. We are furious that yet again, disabled people are bearing the brunt of government cuts.

What’s changing?

  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and the health element of Universal Credit will be slashed.
  • 3.2 million families will lose an average of £1,720 per year.
  • By 2030, an additional 250,000 people—including 50,000 children—will be forced into poverty.

These cuts are immoral, and Inclusion Scotland refuses to stay silent. We are urging the Scottish Government to act and are strengthening our Poverty Lived Experience Group to push back.
